Leonard Mills

Leonard Mills PhD is founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Verte Opportunity Fund. Dr. Mills has over 30 years of experience and proven success in asset selection and portfolio management.

His prior experience includes senior-level positions at the Federal Reserve Bank, Fannie Mae and Wells Fargo Bank, and work as an adjunct professor. He earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Hampden-Sydney College and a doctorate in Economics from Tulane University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds the Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF).

Dr. Mills spent over 15 years as Head of Portfolio Analytics and Research for Fannie Mae's direct portfolio, which peaked at over $1.5 trillion in assets under management. He and his team of 150 quantitative analysts were responsible for all the proprietary analytics and research underlying asset selection and portfolio management strategies for the entire portfolio. After leaving Fannie Mae, he was a Principal at Unison Investment Management, which managed two funds.

Len founded PI Analytics Investment Adviser in 2016, specialising in alternative, hard-to-value assets. Among the accounts managed is its first fund, Verte Capital, formed in 2015 to invest in the emerging cannabis industry. He founded the Verte Opportunity Fund in 2019 to invest in and develop emerging companies impacting Opportunity Zones.
